I just love this LOC proof. Students, eh, maybe some of them.
Getting a lot of traction from MARS card sorts, but never get them done in time, especially with the formative assessments in them... Another really rough day with the last period PC class. Class devolves, ss can't stay focused on any task without me hovering and badgering. Ended up asking them what to do. They want textbooks, and they want me to lecture. I agreed to give them textbooks, if they took them home and never brought them to class. Also, start class with working some problems, but no more than 15 minutes. Also told them that if I'm making these changes, they need to make some too. We'll see.

Construction projects almost graded. Seems like I saved the best for last, which is a relief! This kid's reasoning was awesome. Didn't think I'd give anyone an exemplary mark yet, but he got it! BTW, Desmos Geometry is perfect for playing around and testing constructions.
First Polygraph for Geometry: good language
First OpenMiddle for Precal: Good chance to evaluate some misconceptions.. Precal with 11 kids in the morning=awesome discussions Precal with 22 kids last period=bumming me out. All over the place. I need to figure this class out. First Desmos AB all year (Writing Rules: Linear, Quadratic, and Exponential
by Cory Ulrich), and blind partner drawing for a brain break. Also caught a few students plagiarizing work today: bummer. Mondays suck. Left: New setup to model notebook entries with MS OneNote. Right: Why do I grade projects? Here goes my weekend!
Intro to congruence and transformations always make sense when I do this activity. Who's congruent? Students physically move their shapes, transforming them, showing congruence. Super quick, super effective. Then we have a race to see who can get tangrams put together first.
BTW, rough day yesterday with one precal class that really didn't get the grading activity, and really isn't taking anything seriously. Had to have a talk with them. Never know if that's worth it... fourth week of school and kids not following the 3-4 simple rules I have is bumming me out, frustrating me, making me meaner than I need to be... Management is so much more of a challenge in a new school with kids I don't know, and who don't know me! #spoiledby5yearsteachingthesamekids Perfect trig review: Reversing the question from John Rowe and Find someone who bingo (I think from Kate Nowak, but I can't find a link).
Repeat of grading activity for the other section of geometry before they start their first assessment.
