Grumpy today (parents night till 9 tonight, and I didn't sleep well to begin with), forgot to take pics. This was yesterday with Precal: this arc/sector lesson from MARS turned into a great challenge for understanding of radians.
Damn, I'm glad I married a 5th grade teacher. Loving these posters up in the room. Kids seem to be getting it so far. We'll see about the parents. (for more on assessment, see the blog)
Desmos Geometry makes a great low-pressure sandbox for learning constructions.
BTW: Did I mention my school has a HALF DAY EVERY FRIDAY?!?!?! Early weekend, baby. Kinesthetic distance from Henry Picciotto is a great way to start off Geometry class. But it was really hot...
Also first GGB use in Precal (Radians), first real NB work, realizing PC doesn't know radians yet... Carpets so I can actually hear what the kids are saying, kid stuff on the wall: starting to feel like my own classroom... (compare to Day 1).
Another youcubed activity: irrational number line. (on my new carpet!)
Working on positive feedback and celebrating mistakes in Geometry (building shapes and one-cut geometry from youcubed). Student quote of the day: "Mr. Jon, I had fun today". Doesn't get any better than that.
